When they have satisfied their hunger they do not hunt for pleasure. On the contrary, the human being hunts and captures for the simple fact of having a souvenir, to make a show or to observe animals in captivity. The Seahorse is a bio-indicator species. Its presence indicates a rich and healthy ecosystem and its absence tells us the opposite. Due to the lack of information regarding the size of the various seahorse populations, as well as other issues including how many seahorses are dying each year, how many are being born, and the number used for souvenirs, there is insufficient information to assess their risk of extinction, and the risk of losing more seahorses still remains a concern.
