Laid off and bored, the buried naturalist in him makes what might prove to be the scientific discovery of the century. Elk Mound, the latest film from renown visual artist Chris Mars, speaks of the confluence loneliness, unemployment, and mental illness. Live action set against a surrealist backdrop such as the artist is known for provides a unique and signature visual language to the telling of this genre-defying tale. Mars' films have screened at Sundance, SXSW, Starz and numerous, prestigious museums and festivals around the world including New York's Museum of Modern Art and Halle St. Pierre in Paris. Elk Mound is his eighth film. Written by
