"Lukas was a good guy," he says of his trusted coffee shop owner, whom Johanna finds lying on the floor of her favorite café: bludgeoned to death with an espresso machine, as Dr. Hartmann determines shortly afterward. Lukas's life and business partner, Ines Reisch, only comes under suspicion when it becomes clear that the two had separated two weeks earlier and that another man is involved. But Martin Gump would also have benefited from Lukas's death. The farm tenant owed his cousin a considerable amount of money and is clearly in crisis. It's fortunate that his wife, Katja, and the village helper, Moni, are working hard on the farm, while Katja's son, Paul, can barely control his aggression. Meanwhile, Beissl undergoes a strange transformation.
