His days began in the middle of the night and continued with deliveries to his customers, leaving little time for anything else. Then he needed an apprentice. He took on a young undocumented Guinean who was facing deportation. The baker went on a long hunger strike to prevent his apprentice from being deported. This seminal act marked a second birth for Stéphane. At over 50 years of age, he found his political calling. He met with workers and farmers in Franche-Comté, listened to them and advised them, and traveled to the United States to meet with political communication experts who had worked with Barack Obama and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In 2022, Stéphane ran for legislative elections while continuing his work.
