The film riffs on tropes from Greek mythology through to post-humanism as it asks some essential, if not comic, questions about the future of the human. The title XYZ refers to the Cartesian coordinate system of the x, y and z axes, while also offering us an equation, X times Y times Z, in which the values X Y and Z are unknown.
