Known for his bold political vision, Fatemi proposed the idea of establishing a republic during a critical period in Iran's history. He is widely credited-by figures such as Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh-with initiating the concept of oil nationalization and founding the National Front. Alongside Ali Shayegan, Fatemi was considered a leading voice of the left wing within Mossadegh's government. He survived two assassination attempts within three years-first by Mohammad-Mehdi Abdekhodaei in 1951, and later by Shaban Jafari in 1953. During his tenure, he was awarded the prestigious Homayoun Order. Ultimately, following a closed military trial, Fatemi was executed at dawn on November 10, 1954, for his role in opposing the monarchy and advocating for the dismissal of the Shah.
