As a young hospitalized kid, he watched Star Wars for the first time on a TV they rolled into his room at Children's Hospital, DC. Since then, he's been hooked on the magical power of movies to transport people into profound new worlds and experiences. The rom-com series "Sexpectations" he directed is out now on streaming. He also recently worked as an Unreal Virtual Production specialist for Electric Entertainment, making spaceships fly around and creating new worlds to discover. He aims to create content that can make people laugh and cry, hopefully at the same time. Growing up obsessing over computers, art and where the two merge; Derick has spent his life pursuing the horizons of visual effects and optimizing the vessels that take us there. For fun he maintains and upgrades his home server and tries to show his children what exciting mysteries and unfathomable beauty there is to be found in the world. Derick Dressel is known for The Ark (2024), I Am Number Four (2011), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) and Geostorm (2017). See less
