Lian Town, on the edge of the Taihu Lake in the south of the Yangtze River, is more tightly controlled by the enemy because it is an important way for flood and drought transportation. The underground team in Lian Town lost contact with the New Fourth Army. Minister Liang of the New Fourth Army went several times to contact them, but was unsuccessful due to the enemy's strict investigation. At this moment, Su Xiaoqin, a female soldier of the New Fourth Army, volunteered to fight and complete this arduous task. Lian Town is Su Xiaoqin's hometown, and her parents are famous Pingtan performers in the Suzhou and Changzhou areas. Six years ago, Xiaoqin's mother was forced to die by a bully, and Xiaoqin was forced to escape and join the New Fourth Army. Su Xiaoqin, dressed in a long robe and holding a pipa, disguised herself as a Pingtan performer, broke through the enemy's checkpoint and returned to her long lost home. The next day, she went to Lianxi Musical Instrument Store to meet underground, but unexpectedly, her former classmate Afu was standing at the counter. Her father told her that the former boss Chen had heard that he was a communist and had been captured by the enemy. Xiaoqin firmly believes that although the contact point has been destroyed, the party organization will still exist and must find a way to locate it. She explained her true identity to her father and asked him to join her on stage to tell stories in order to find the party organization. The Pingtan in the teahouse has begun, and Xiaoqin takes the opportunity of tuning the strings to send out another communication signal. This secret code was heard by the underground party member Alin who ran away from the teahouse, and quickly reported to the party organization. Xiaoqin finally connected with the underground party. The party organization decided to take advantage of the birthday celebration of the fake town mayor Fan Shaozhang to try to rescue Old Chen who was imprisoned in the Fan Mansion water prison. Due to the recent destruction of the Lianxi Musical Instrument Store, the sudden arrival of Xiaoqin caught the attention of the enemy. The fake town mayor Fan Shaozhang not only sought refuge with his Afu to monitor Xiaoqin, but also had his aunt and Xiaoqin's senior sister Fang Liqin listen to Xiaoqin's movements. In order to investigate, he also invited the father and daughter of the Su family to attend a concert to celebrate his birthday. Xiaoqin also took advantage of the situation and went to the Fan Mansion with her father. When the sound of pipa echoed in the front hall of the Fan Mansion and the guests were intoxicated, Alin sneaked into the back garden of the Fan Mansion, killed the guard, and went to the water prison to rescue Old Chen. After singing Pingtan, Xiaoqin and her father collaborated with Alin to knock down Afu who was in the way. They deceived the enemy sentry and sent Old Chen on board, heading for the Taihu Lake. When the enemy heard the news, Fan Shaozhang and Afu forced Lao Kun to paddle to the Taihu Lake. Lao Kun angrily split the unfilial son, Afu, and died bravely in the fight with Fan Shaozhang. At this moment, the Japanese motorboat approached Su Xiaoqin. In order to save everyone from danger, Xiaoqin asked everyone to leave the land quickly.
