It looks like a cross between a cow and a goat, or a wildebeest. Takins are indeed among the most unknown hoofed animals in the world, even in their native China. Anna is traveling there to see the animals in the wild. Beforehand, at Hellabrunn Zoo, zookeeper Niels tells her many fascinating things about the takin herd he cares for. No one is allowed into the enclosure with the animals, because takins are truly dangerous. But there is a training station where Niels lures the female takin, Franzi, to. This allows Anna to get a close look at the animal. And in the end, she also learns why takins smell so bad. In China, Anna goes with ranger Feda in Tang Jia He National Park to search for wild takins. Anna is already wondering if they'll ever see them again.
