Despite several waves of protests over the years, Wimpey Construction, the organizing entity, successfully felled 5,000 trees. In 1992, local activists established a protest camp in the park, renaming it Pollok Free State. The activists are not only protesting against the destruction of a beloved green park but also advocating for the rights of local residents, whose recreational space would be significantly limited by the freeway. This protest was one of the largest against the M77 motorway and drew active participation from various groups, including Earth First!, Glasgow For People, and Scottish Militant Labour. The documentary features interviews with many participants and includes archival footage from the initial campaigns against the M77. Written by Hayduke See less
