His wife left him and took with her their ...See morePio, a blind man since a young boy, raised his family through panunudsod or traditional prawn fishing using pushnet, the only livelihood he knew and had grown up with in their barrio in Sorsogon. His wife left him and took with her their children, thinking that Pio could not raise the family with his disability. For 9 years, Pio lived on his own, until the towns people matched him to Erlinda, a widow who took care of her grandchildren, because her children were all far away from her. Pio accepted and loved Erlinda, together with her young grandchildren. As years passed, Erlinda began thinking the same way as Pio's first wife did - that Pio could not raise the family with his limitations. She thought of leaving Pio alone. But, realizing that no one could accept her and her grandchildren as Pio does, Erlinda stayed with Pio, seeing the love and perseverance he has despite of his dark and small world.
