While the bout is on, the bandit band plan a raid of the town. The signal is prematurely given for the raid and as the bandits approach, Magpie Simpkins and Dirtyshirt Jones set a match to the fireworks lying on a table at the end of the main street. Skyrockets and devil chasers whiz up the street to the consternation of the raiders and result in the complete rout of the latter, as Magpie and Dirtyshirt emerge heroes.
