While waiting to talk to the house's proprietor, he meets a young girl who tells him a spooky story about why a window (actually, French Doors) is left open on a chilly October afternoon: apparently, Hunters left through the "window" one day and were lost in a bog. The proprietor insists the window stay open in case the hunters return. Eventually, the girl's mother, the proprietor, joins them, seemingly delusional in the belief that the hunters are due to arrive any minute. When the man sees the hunters approach the house, he believes them to be ghosts. He runs away frightened, unaware that it was a practical joke told by the little girl. The hunters never died, and they are not ghosts. The short ends with the little girl spinning another yarn to her mother and the hunters. See less
