Susan arrives with more bad news. Alan came home last night to say his goodbyes to her and Petey, as he's off to Thailand on a secret government mission, leaving her alone for who knows how long. She goes to the newspaper with Peter, who tries to allay her fears about Alan's safety in the Far East. They're interrupted by Frank, who is going to write a regular political column for the Herald. Frank offers a shoulder to cry on should Susan need another listening adult. He promises he wants nothing more than to be her friend, and she is appreciative. Later, Peter sums it up for Val. Susan and Frank have much in common, including their reformed personalities. He hopes for Alan's sake that she and Frank maintain a thin friendship. Val tells Peter she had a call from Janet, who is on the verge of nervous collapse due to the stress inflicted by Kip and Wendy. Written by Mark Faulkner See less
