What most people don't know, is that the Harlem Globetrotters played a vital role in not only the game's evolution and changing the general perception of African-American athletes but also in the integration of what would become the NBA as we know it today. The defining moment came in 1948, with a historic game between the Minneapolis Lakers, an all-white team and considered to be the best in the world, and the barnstorming Harlem Globetrotters.
