All are in their mid to late 60's, mothers and grandmothers, actively pursuing creative lives. Gail Parrish, a playwright, Linda Tate, a vocalist, songwriter and composer, and Beth Watson, a dancer and entrepreneur, who bakes and does face painting, are friends who were all born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. The film explores the current creative pursuits of these three, interspersed with their perspectives on growing up in segregated African-American communities and how racism in the US affected their families. The women are joined by friendship, race, gender, age, and culture, and this film makes an important contribution to the legacy of stories that focus on 21st century African-American women. See less
