The ...See moreThis film documents the British Mexico Expedition 1982-1983 to the southernmost Mexican state of Chiapas, which despite some members suffering health problems with histoplasmosis and typhoid, discovered some 12 kilometres of cave. The caves featured in the film include Sótano de las Golondrinas, Cueva del Chorreodero, Grutas de San Cristobal, Cueva Borohuix, and in particular, the expedition's most significant new discovery, Cueva Veshtucoc. The cavers featured include Bob Court, Dany Bradshaw, Dick Ellis, Steve Foster, Dave Gill, Tony Jarratt, Dave Newson, Mark Robson, Gail Searby, and Ian Watson. This film was first broadcast on Channel 4 on 4th November 1984. It won the Antenne Prize at the 7th Festival International du Film de Spéléologie at La Chapelle-en-Vercorst in 1984, and the Grand Prix at the 4th Festival Internacional de Cinema Espeleològic in Barcelona in 1985.
