Centuries before, Gloria Johansson's ancestors fled religious persecution, as a mixed cultural band of refugees, to the borders of Georgia and Alabama. Befriending the Muskogee Nation as trading partners, they sought to forge a home in this sacred place during the age of revolution. Each possessing the last physical powers over the elements of their tribes and clans, they fight to hide their gifts. Exposed during an assault by a Georgia Militia on the clan leaders daughter, a battle to the death ensues. A curse is laid upon the land, trapping them within the veil. Gloria and her children, Jodi and Lawson, return to the family farm to take care of her ailing Great Aunt who has guarded the family secrets. As they struggle to come to grips with their new environment, the sudden loss of Great Auntie Linda leaves them alone and unprepared for what is coming. The veil to the ancestral past opens and tries to spill over into current reality. The unlocked powers hidden within the three are revealed as they get swept into the pull of the past, spilling over into the present. Ghosts emerge. Mistaking Jodi for her ancestor, Keera, the entities seek to return the one that escaped from their wrath and survived the veil.
