In 2015, I was directing Love It or List It and in the midst of intense grieving for the sudden loss of my partner and father to two of my three kids. At wrap, the DOP offered crew, equipment and his keen eye if I wrote and directed a short. 'Sure' I said, ( I was trying to say yes to everything), I'll write you something hilarious. But he didn't want Funny. He wanted Dark. So, I took the dare. And I surprised myself. Nine Letters is the first dramatic short for myself, my sister/producer, Gina Dineen, and our DOP, Colin Evans. Nine Letters is my emancipation from the second stage of grief. Nine Letters is my response to the current climate for women. I'm very grateful for a thousand reasons; as an artist, as a woman and as a widow. It's nice to surprise yourself. See less
