The narrative follows ...See moreBreak Like You is a short character-driven documentary about Emile Jansen, a founding member of South Africa's oldest Hip-Hop crew, Black Noise, and his contributions to the conscious Hip-Hop movement in Cape Town. The narrative follows Emile from his boyhood in the 'so called' coloured community in Cape Flats, during Apartheid, who begins to explore deeper connections with his own heritage after being exposed to American Hip Hop. His journey leads him to travel beyond his neighborhood to other parts of South Africa, and eventually around the globe. Emile transforms his local celebrity to create an organization with his family called Heal the Hood, which connects the next generation with their heritage using forms of Hip Hop. See less
