Emma pursues the truth about Jess - unlocking Jess' phone reveals calls to one local number. Calling the number puts Emma firmly in the sights of Bodie Lord. John gleans information from Caterina about what Emma shared with her. Emma confides finally in Tom, about Jess and Tina, brings comfort and shock - he knows who she was and wants one assurance: did she help Kit Parker? And Emma cannot give him an answer he needs: she hopes not. Tom, in trying to dig into the Carlton Lodge Motel falls into John's web and is abducted. Emma now without Pete or Tom continues to try and make sense of the past by reconnecting with the boss of the Minnesota hair salon she worked at. From Marnie she learns that Kit was having an affair with Theresa before Emma met her and that's why the salon workers hated him. Emma now makes sense of everything and goes to Pete to confess: she killed Theresa because she found out about her affair with Kit and that's what she has blocked out. Pete now reveals that the body in Minnesota isn't Theresa's but Amy Walker and asks if Emma ever knew her. Emma in freefall has no recollection of this woman but in a final flashback we makes sense of the fragmented murder scene we have viewed through the season. It is Amy Walker on the Minnesota apartment floor and Karen stands over her with a hammer. Mary puts the house up for sale and moves in with her Adam for a hedonistic escape from her pain. She attempts a confession but his innocence cannot cope with the dark truths Mary holds inside. When she receives news that the body in Minnesota is not Theresa's, Mary frees herself of all morality and realises the only person she can be honest with is John. She is trapped in this twisted relationship with this deadly dangerous man who lets himself into Emma's cabin with his stolen key and lies in the bed beside her, watching her as she sleeps a sleep of nightmares.
