What the Caged Bird Sings is a 'neo-noir' drama/thriller that explores the dynamics of revenge and what it means to dance the lines of morality and justice. The questions of "Good vs. Evil" are paralleled with the highs and lows of the nicotine from a smoking cigarette. In the basements and back alleys of the mid-west, lives an underground system of human trafficking. Men and women alike come to barter for unimaginable "favors" from many of the unwilling slaves. The slaves - referred to as The Birds - are held in a dormitory referred to as, none other than, The Cage. The Birds are administered regimented and controlled doses of amphetamines to sedate them into submission. Our story revolves around the raid of one particular Cage in Columbus, Ohio, where Frizz and Cat are being held. Upon their release, Cat, the mother of the group, decides to take the help that the government has offered to those who had been affected by this horrible system. Frizz, on the other hand, takes to his seclusion and is possessed by the idea of revenge. Revenge against the establishment, revenge against the government that offered him a petty plea, and most importantly, revenge against the man whose face he saw clear as day on the night of the raid. Frizz, after some unintentional help from Cat, decides that maybe it's finally time to take action. He buys a gun, gathers his intel, and goes rogue to conduct a raid of his own where he comes face to face with The Man - his maker. Will he take that last hit of the cigarette? The only thing standing between morality and justice is the .45 shaking in his hand.  Less
