In fear of leaving her newfound safety bubble, Charlie resists moving on from rehab - defaulting to all of her unhealthy coping mechanisms that brought here there in the first place. Eventually, she is propelled to leave when her best friend, Joy (mid-50s), experiences a personal tragedy, which causes Charlie to clearly see her own life in someone else's for the first time.
