Maura, John's widow, her parasitical lover and her son Patrick Yale ignored the request and tell her to return to her London fiance Marc, canceling the job, but she remains for now. Patrick is, to Maura's dismay, socially engaged as investigative reporter of the local radio station, founded by John, defending the Cornish environment against the oil business, which hired a lawyer to stop his opposition to their offshore drilling plans whatever it takes, and Timothy offers him a discrete deal. Als Iris Greta's beach-wandering dog brings Patrick, who is forced to move his radio to the yacht outside US jurisdiction, together with Iris, who is soon charmed and tempted to act as guest presenter. While they fall in love, Iris and her London lover Marc, who gets suspicious of Patrick, learn John Winterbottom's secret past, which changes everything for all of them.
