While jogging through the city, Cassandre and Pascal find the body trapped in the bars of one of the canals. From his wedding ring, the PJ discovers that he is Thomas Valin, a lawyer for Eucaryos, an important biogenetics laboratory. Valin was defending the company versus the demand of Maxim Vernoux for the use of a new medication. Valin's wife, Sandrine, and their twelve-year-old son, Gaspard, are devastated by the news.
