Lott repeatedly cashed various sums, accompanied by a girl, from a bank branch managed by Thomas Lange, who informed his friend, Barbara's daughter Hannah's husband, struggling optician Michael Boehme, who could hardly afford their inheritance being thrown away. The fake granddaughter is identified as Paula, fresh kid of small fry Peter Blass, and pressed to denounce the gang leader, but alibis and lucid Lott's peculiar bond with Paula make Bernd Reuther consider an alternative motive.
