To his delight, a pair of glowing red shoes appears. He immediately puts them on but there is a bad twist to it: they squeak horribly. The man tries to get back his old shoes but the cleaning lady has unfortunately already thrown them away. The civil servant then makes up his mind to walk to a shoe store to buy a new pair.
