His last words to the air traffic controller in Tullamarine before vanishing were; "My intentions are, ah, to go to King Island. Ah, Melbourne that strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again. It's hovering and it's not an aircraft. It is." After a three day extensive search, no traces of Frederick's plane were ever recovered. This sent the media into a frenzy and made worldwide headlines.
