To amp up the power, Ferrari would put a 2.5L engine to compensate for the higher fuel consumption at the Reims circuit, managing to outstand the Maserati A6CGM. Before the race would start, controversy would start with the leading Ferrari for turning off the headlights an hour before permitted, it was then accepted after seeing that the other rivals were doing the same thing. But when the leading Ferrari was pushed started, it would be disqualified. González would try a low risky low fuel strategy and would be leader of the race, it would be however ruined by Bonetto with a spin leading him to tenth place. Throughout the race, it would be revealed that Ascari was lacking the power of earlier races and that Fangio and Hawthorn were fighting for lead and that González was in a big fight for third. At the end, Fangio would lose his lead battle and Hawthorn would then win the race, ending Ascari's nine win streak. Winning time was: 2:44:18.6. Written by Balsamo Giulio See less
