As the filmmaker hitches rides with travelers along the causeway, she asks the questions 'where do you come from?' and 'where are you going?', which lead to conversations about dreams and longings of people on the road. The Dutch Afsluitdijk becomes a magical place, without beginning or end, never a destination on it's own, and thus the ideal place to reflect upon life.
