Janet forced Pat to admit the reason behind her being sick and in pain, but agreed to keep it a secret from the Matthews family. Pat's deteriorating condition gave Janet no choice but to phone for Dr. Ernest Gregory's help. Dr. Gregory insisted that Pat be hospitalized, though he promised no one would know the real reason. Frank and Tom argued about Pat, who Tom thinks is out running around town with friends. Dr. Gregory confided in Janet that he thinks Pat has an infection that could warrant surgery.
