For that reason son-in-law Mike only bought three portions of fish and chips and Alf's efforts to call the chip shop from the phone box outside his house for more are frustrated by a vapid dolly bird chatting endlessly to her lover and one Ted Williams who keeps ringing the kiosk to ask for a message to be passed to a neighbour.
