He comes from a conservative upbringing in Gaza. He crosses paths with Jalal (25) from eastern Jerusalem, who is studying film and media in the U.S and comes from a moderate family. The 2014 Gaza incursion breaks out, killing Qassem's family, and causing an upheaval in the arabic community in Jalal's home town. Both men being Palestinian, feel obliged to do something to the horror that is happening back home, but as different as their backgrounds are, so are their reactions. Jalal decides to take on the subject of the Palestinian character as his college thesis, whilst Qassem goes through the adversity to retaliate against the Israeli community for his family. These two opposing reactions might bring their paths together in the future, even more complicating the issue and proving futile in the bigger picture. Written by Majd Mazin See less
