Karen notices Maggie experiencing the piercing sound and clutching her ears. Maggie snaps that she received a clean bill of health from the neurologist. She continues to lose her temper over Karen's suggestion to Matt that Maggie's mood swings are because of problems in her marriage. After Karen leaves, Maggie phones Matt and yells at him when he says she doesn't sound as healthy as Dr. Franklin claims she is. Karen, returning to the clinic for her car keys, overhears Maggie snapping at Matt. Toni and Carolee prepare the best way to tell Billy the truth. Later, the two are relieved when Billy easily accepts the news. Nick isn't happy to see Cathy who drops by unexpectedly. She insists that she's hung up on him, not Steve. She doesn't want revenge against Steve nor is she really jealous of Althea. She explains that she's just a little possessive because there's a gap between who she is and who she wants to be. With self-deprecation, she pleads with Nick to help her. He wonders why she puts herself down when she does several things well.
