Matt reassures him that he's going to be fine. In the lounge, Mike talks with Hank about Toni, whom Mike loves. Mike tells Hank that something serious seems to be bothering Toni, but she won't tell him what it is. He intends to find out when he goes to see her on his break tonight. Mike's problems prompt Hank to share a similar experience he had with his old girlfriend Laurie. Martha enters as Hank's leaving to answer a page, so Mike catches her up on the situation with Toni. When he tells her that he's pushing Toni to open up, Martha suggests that no one likes being cornered. Carolee tortures herself with "what ifs," lamenting the fact that if she had reacted differently, Dan might not have gotten so agitated and collapsed. Steve tries to make Carolee accept the fact that this is exactly what Dan wants...for her to feel guilty and to be punished. As Carolee proposes one final what-if, what if Dan doesn't survive, Matt enters the room with a grave expression on his face. Written by Skip Eastport See less
