Joe, a family friend, pays Serenity a visit to see how she is doing and if she might need help maintaining the farm she is now left to manage alone. Joe mentions that his nephew Billy is looking for a new start in the area and has years of experience working on a farm. After some hesitation, Serenity agrees to hire Billy. For Serenity, having Billy around seems to breathe new life in what has felt an otherwise lonely mountain valley.
