No dialogue, title card or scene caption that have been used in the silent movies of the 1920s nor any other means of inter-human communication such as letters, text messages or e-mail that are used in some recent silent movies. Although, in contrast to the silent movies of 1920s, we hear all other sounds around characters in the normal way and images are in color. It is a new genre of universal silent film where global audiences can understand the story and enjoy it, without translation, subtitles or the movie having to be dubbed into other languages. The Silent Locksmith is the story of a locksmith who is a fine man of virtue and courage but is forced to commit a crime in order to survive. He steals money from one of his clients. Our lovable villain character, many years later, tries to compensate the victim of his crime by making full restitution of the stolen money and at the same time making himself rich. The Locksmith works every day in a small wooden kiosk near a parking lot in Downtown Sacramento. From his small business he earns a modest sum of money to feed himself, help others, particularly the poor homeless living on the streets of Downtown Sacramento, and to pay the monthly mortgage on his small apartment. His business gradually declines and he is not able to pay his mortgage anymore. One day he receives both a foreclosure notice and a second notice, the cancellation his health insurance benefits. As a result, he feels full of pain and sadness. At first, considers committing suicide but changes his mind. Then he makes plans to rob some money from the jewelry safe of one of his customers. He steals around a million dollars which he uses to buy gold, then hides the gold in a forest. After that he goes to a police station and surrenders, asking the Administration of Criminal Justice to arrest and punish him. As a consequence, he spends many years in jail. When the locksmith is released from jail, he seems older and is gray-haired. He returns to the forest, finds the hidden gold and goes to a jewelry store where he sells the gold back. He gets twice the money that he had paid for this gold. In order to compensate for his crime, he repays his old customer the exact amount that he had previously stolen from him. With the remaining funds, he buys himself a new car, a new house and makes plans to travel around the world. All beets of this narrative are written in a manner that allows the audience to follow the story just by image, action and body language. Written by Moh Salim See less
