The 95th birthday of his predecessor Karl Wolter is a welcome occasion for a lavish celebration, which is also intended to shine a light on him, the political grandson of the great Monrealer. Before the happy event, the only thing left to do is to get Killmer and Kati's divorce date over the line. The two of them have held out hard through the year of separation, police tape across the apartment has helped, and now not even Grandma Biever can stop the divorce from finally being finalized. And yet she is still convinced that her Kati and Killmer are so well suited to each other. So it is not a bad thing for her that the divorce is interrupted by an emergency call: Wolter is dead, murdered by tampering with his stair lift. And so Kati and Killmer rush to the crime scene as a married couple. At Wolter's property, they are greeted by Hermine Blücher, the housekeeper. Formerly the daughter of the house, she lost the property when her father was said to have committed a post office robbery in the post-war days and lost his life during the arrest. When Wolter later bought the villa at auction, he offered Hermine the chance to return as his employee. Since then, she has ruled the household. And as reserved as Miss Blücher seems, she has her own special methods, and village policeman Ralf in particular is no match for them. She also has a theory about the murder: it is said to have been Horst Schaurig, son of the chicken baron Georg Schaurig, who was friends with Wolter. And because of the gold that was stolen during the post office robbery and has remained missing to this day. Georg Schaurig has long since passed the business on to his son, he is quite senile, lives more in his youth than in the present, and keeps his daughter-in-law Yvonne on his toes. The Schaurigs would definitely have more reasons to kill their own senior than Karl Wolter. On the other hand, Kati and Killmer wonder why anyone would want to get rid of Wolter at his advanced age. Alfred Schuschick, the estate's factotum, also quite old and of limited intelligence, can at least tell them that Wolter had made some hints: he would drop a bomb on his birthday. Wolter seems to have really frightened someone with this. Then Wolter's lawyer also falls victim to a supposed accident. And Killmer and Kati cannot be so busy with their divorce that they do not realize that at least one Monreal resident is still haunted by the misdeeds of the past. Written by ADR Das Erste See less
