Maggie attempts to clear the air with Althea over her behavior toward John at the dinner party, but Althea refuses to admit she and John were not strangers. Later, Althea is annoyed to learn that John has agreed to replace Dr. Geller. Steve requests more verbal communication with Carolee, who concedes. When Steve notices she's pale and dizzy, Carolee insists her husband can take care of her. Nick confirms for Althea that Dr. Geller's latest test shows a tumor on his spine. Althea refuses to accept John 's person-to-person phone call from New York.
