They drive to the Hüttmann distillery. There, they find the fruit farmer Hüttmann dead in his distillery, having been beaten to death with a bottle of fruit schnapps. Hüttmann's granddaughter Mara is mourning not only the death of her beloved grandfather, but above all the loss of her turtle, which apparently escaped through the open door. To Staller's astonishment, Hubert searches for the missing animal with uncharacteristic zeal. The turtle is gone - but a few hairs are found. Are they the first hot lead? Pathologist Dr. Anja Licht, however, is making no progress, so Hubert and Staller must take DNA samples from everyone who was in the dead man's distillery. They start with forester Luggi Waldner. He had recently tried to acquire a piece of Hüttmann's land, but the stubborn fruit farmer refused to sell. A possible motive for the crime for the investigators, but: Would someone murder for a few hectares of forest land? At least the visit to Waldner leads to the trail of organic fruit farmer Franz Moser, the neighbor of the murdered man. He had been in a long-standing dispute with Hüttmann over Hüttmann's use of pesticides. Moser is reluctant to submit to the genetic test. Does he have something to hide? While the organic farmer increasingly comes under scrutiny as the perpetrator, Hubert and Staller also face some problems outside of the investigation: Staller's attraction to an attractive traffic offender earns him the wrath of station commander Girwidz. Girwidz's upcoming birthday, in turn, has the entire station on edge. And last but not least, Hubert's search for the missing turtle seems to be leading the two investigators ever further away from solving the case.
