Five-month-old Emil, who, like every day, takes his afternoon nap in his mother's office, has suddenly disappeared without a trace from the Gründing shipyard. An immediate search, followed by the arrest of several mothers and their babies, leads to complete chaos at the station but not to the kidnapper. Theo and Lena Gründing, the baby's parents and owners of the shipyard, shortly thereafter find a ransom demand for EUR250,000 in their mailbox. Herbert Karner, Lena's father and a wealthy publishing house owner, immediately agrees to provide the money. Hubert already has a suspect in mind: recently terminated employee Michael Rubens, who was on the shipyard premises at approximately the time of the crime. Staller has his eye on Sabrina Rattlinger's new lover and sailing instructor Thorsten Hinder. While Hubert Riedl sets his sights on Rubens and has him shadowed around the clock, Staller spies on Sabrina Rattlinger and her new love interest. He's convinced that the perfect son-in-law image is deceptive and that there must be a stain on Hinder's clean record somewhere. He accepts the fact that a dog flies out of a window during Staller's search for clues and that the wrong person is even suspected for a while, for Sabrina's sake. Meanwhile, shipyard worker Carmen Stolz lovingly cares for the worried mother. Stolz has a daughter the same age and can therefore understand the parents' dismay. Meanwhile, Hubert and Staller plan a "perfect" money handover to catch the perpetrator. But their plan goes horribly wrong.
