Ann is surprised to see the two of them chatting away so early in the morning. Walter makes plans to meet Jill and Ann for lunch at The Kings Plate while they are out Christmas shopping. Waiting to have lunch with Walter, Paul stops by Ann and Jill's table. Paul delivers a message from Walter saying he will not be able to meet them for lunch. Ann introduces Paul to Jill and asks him if he can join them for lunch. Paul sits and chats and then gets off saying that he has to start his job playing the piano for the lunch customers. After a long day at work, Matt comes home to Liz feeling defeated. Liz suggests that she help out somehow. Matt is adamant that Liz not work. Liz suggests that maybe her mother, Irene can help out. Matt knowing that Irene has contacts does not want her help because she was so opposed to them getting married in the first place. Paul stops by at Matt and Liz's home to pick up Christmas gifts to bring over to Mady's. While visiting Paul gets involved in Matt and Liz's discussion and things go from bad to worse. Walter comes home from work to find several packages that Jill and Ann got while shopping. Walter apologizes for not meeting for lunch.
