The son, however, does not want to go through with the marriage and in secret regularly meets with and makes love to his true lover, an African American woman who is the daughter of a poor family of tenant farmers who work on the property the son's family owns. Among the crops the woman works on are peaches. In the video when the two meet in secret they are transported to a surreal fantasy-like state where everything is vibrant and colorful. Eventually, even though the two are fiercely in love with each other, the woman suggests to the son that they should not see each other anymore because society will not accept them being together and that it will never work out for them in the long run. The son, however, driven by his passion goes to see her again anyway. Later, in preparation for the son's arranged marriage, a brother of the daughter to whom the son is arranged to be married to finds out that the son is secretly seeing this other woman. One day this brother along with a group of his friends follow the son and break into a room where he and his secret lover are staying. Together, the brother and his group of friends beat and humiliate the woman while restraining the son as he watches in horror and begs them to cease. The brother and his group of friends eventually stop to let their actions serve as a warning to the son. The son comforts his lover as they leave. After some time passes, on the eve of the son's arranged marriage, he grabs a suitcase full of his belongings and goes to see his lover again. Seeing that he is planning on running away with her, she tells him that it will never work out between them and that it is best for them to admire each other from a distance. The son reluctantly agrees. The story ends with the son, now married, remembering his true love as he eats peaches farmed by their family. Written by Kumar Sapra See less
