The colored civilians are automatically put in the lower class and have never been given the rights of the white civilians. While segregation laws are firmly set in stone, the town's law enforcement has a hard time keeping up with a group of rebels within their community. These outsides, both colored and white, gather secretly at night for festivals of laughter, dancing, and tolerance, all wearing masquerade masks to help hide their identities if or when the heat comes to shut down the parties and throw the delinquents into the slammer--or worse.
