The fate of this land, and the fortunes of the creatures that inhabit it, are entirely dependent on two river systems: the Chobe and the Okavango. Life here follows a tidal rhythm, echoing the ebb and flow of water in the rivers. On the banks of the Chobe, great herds of buffalo and elephant gather while lions hunt along the floodplains. Closer to the Okavango Delta at San-Ta-Wani, the water is disappearing rapidly. All the species that rely on it are forced into savage conflict. Huge crocodiles lie in wait in the pools and lions spring constant attacks on herds of desperately thirsty animals.
