Subtitle: Guarding the gate. Electra, N.C: The construction of the great Cyclopean Masonry Dam, which is to be 1,440 feet long and 220 feet high, the largest work ever attempted in the South, is nearing completion. Subtitles: Numerous huge dredges anchored in the walls are used to place the large rocks in position. Two tunnels were cut through the mountain, each 30 feet in diameter, to divert the water. Washington, D.C: The venerable Cardinal Gibbons participates in the procession of prelates to celebrate the seven hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Dominican Order. Subtitle: At night the flaming well resembles a gigantic torch, visible for miles around. San Francisco, Cal: Sir Ernest Shackleton, the noted Antarctic explorer, who recently arrived in the United States, is ready to make another journey in quest of the elusive South Pole.
