I have been interested in making this film ever since I rescued a dog, and was introduced to a new world of people who have worked their lives around their dogs. Through a series of events that I was invited to by a good friend of mine, I met some of the key players who really seem to embody the 'dog person' lifestyle, in a very non-typical way. I attended an event with my dog Molly, a Maltese/Poodle/Coton mix who was just not that interested in wearing costumes or socializing, so I came back without her, and a camera instead. As shooting progressed I began to see the common ground between my participants and started to stitch together a narrative. What results with this short are some of my favorite excerpts. The tone is like "Best In Show" but REAL. This film is done in a documentary style but it has silly quick-witted vibe and it is edited to be entertaining. The short centers around a sidewalk dog wedding that I stumbled upon in the summer of 2010, which is one of those events that just only happens in New York City. This early footage is combined with my later footage so there is a progression that can be seen here as the process evolves. This film is all about dogs, but it is really about all the people at the other end of the leash.
