With Christmas over, tourists are fewer at the palace, but Alan discovers all manner of animal visitors in the gardens. With permission from the Queen, cameras are hidden in the gardens to film a robin nesting in the royal mower shed, a blackbird in the green house and, best of all, the discovery of a baby owl chick. Driven by the city warmth, spring comes early to the gardens, and Alan discovers evidence of the role they played as a nursery for the young royals including a moss covered sand pit. Then in late May, the race is on for the gardeners to put in their finishing touches as once again the party season is about to begin. See less
