But the path is fraught with danger, and many have fallen into networks of exploitation and white slavery. María Ana Allsopp, a young woman from high society, is deeply moved by the plight of these women forced to sell their bodies on the streets. Together with Father Francisco of Asís Méndez, she founds a new congregation: a house whose doors remain open day and night, a safe refuge for so many abandoned women.
