They escape back to the orphanage, realizing they are each other's true family, and must stop a 60-year-old orphan bent on revenge for never being chosen.Every year, the orphanage hosts a strange and celebrated tournament where children compete for the ultimate prize: adoption. To the winners, it feels like salvation. To the losers, it feels like being left behind all over again. But the children who are adopted soon discover their new families are not what they seem. One child mysteriously loses his head - literally. Another is forced to replace a beloved family pet. Others vanish into roles no child should ever fill. The homes are surreal, cruel, and unnervingly theatrical, as if the families are playing twisted versions of love. Terrified, the children escape and return to the orphanage, only to realize something powerful: their real family was never out there. It was always each other.
